Soon after Martin Luther joined the Augustinian monastery, Luther found that he was the only one worried about the purity of his soul and that the others who used the title monk had become lazy and abused their powers. In May of 1507, Martin Luther was appointed a priest and soon after was invited to teach moral philosophy at the University of Wittenberg in which he accepted the invitation. While teaching at the University of Wittenberg, there was a religious dispute that arose that required someone from the university to bring a message to Pope Leo X so Martin Luther was selected to complete this task. Luther felt very honored that he was selected to bring a message to the Pope Leo X, however Luthers trip to deliver a message to the pope did not go as well as he had planned.
