King proclaimed until his death that no one is different in terms of being a human, yet we are all different in which each person shares their unique talents with the world. In his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, he exclaims, “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." The color of your skin has no impact on a person’s worth or purpose in life. God created us all to serve and live a life of charity and love. Dr. Martin Luther King led his protests of the injustice
in a peaceful manner. King led the March on Washington, a peaceful rally with the goal of putting the injustices African Americans faced in the spotlight. Through his actions, two key pieces of legislation were passed, the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. Each granted African Americans the ability to vote easier and obtain a sense of identity and purpose in society. King was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his tremendous works and determination as he never backed down from such a large challenge, the pursuit of equality. With the abundance of injustice and inequality spewing throughout the developing country, He stepped up in a time of need and was successful in getting his voice out there. King grasped a great deal of support in his push for equality even from the opposing race. Ultimately, Dr. Martin Luther King has impacted my life as I am able to understand the great role he played on such an important topic. I am able to understand my role as a citizen and be a shadow of Dr. Martin Luther King in this world.
