One of the most powerful leaders of the civil rights movement was the African American Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Martin King Jr was born into a family that was big on Christianity. The date May 1936 was the date of when he got baptized, but this event had a very little effect on him. But one big event that had a big impact on his life was the death of his grandmother on May 1941 when Martin Luther King was only twelve years old.
