How Did Mass Impact The Period Of The Pendulum?
Mass impacted the period of the pendulum because it the value of T didn’t drastically change even when we tested the extremes. when we did 10 cycles of 350 and 500 the period of T in sec stayed the same at 1.675s. Angle impacted the period of the pendulum because the two angels we tested 30 and then 10 for 30 the period of t was 1.406s and for 10 the period of t in sec 1.425 during this we can clearly see there was an increase. Length impacted the period of the pendulum in the best way because this is where we saw the numbers decreasing as we shorten the string we started with the length of 61.2 with a 1.675s period T and ended with the length of 22.5 with a 1.084s period T.

    Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Pit and the Pendulum”, is a short story of the struggled of a prisoner who has been sentenced to death, and placed in a dungeon. The narrator, who is the prisoner, realizes that the dungeon he is placed in is known as the Inquisition. He encounters death multiple times throughout his time in the dungeon. He nearly falls into a large pit, almost gets scythed by a pendulum, and gets pushed to the brink of the pit by burning walls, but merely avoids his end. These lucky aversions with death develop Poe’s theme. He reveals that one should not give up hope because even the direst of situations might end without consequence. This theme is represented most when the narrator depicts his escape from the pendulum, at the climax of the story. The passage starts with the narrator’s hopes to escape, and closes with the reality of his escape.     In the story, "The Pit and the Pendulum", written by the infamous Edgar Allen Poe, written in 1843, places a man during the time of the Inquisition who is incarnated. Beginning the story, this man, who remains unnamed, receives a death sentence and immediately faints. Upon waking he finds himself in a completely dark room. Scared that he is inside a tomb, he moves around to reinsure himself. Upon exploring this darkened room he accidentally trips and falls finding that his entire body has landed on a surface other than his face where it dangles over an abyss. After much thought, he decides that it's a pit in the middle of the prison and decides to test how far it is down. Throwing a rock down the pit he determines that if one were to jump down into the pit, the jump would be fatal. Again, the prisoner fell asleep and wakes up to bread and water, which is drugged, and once again, falls asleep. This time, upon his awakening, he finds that he is tied to a wooden board and a strapped fastened around him. Looking up, the prisoner sees a pendulum, which starts swinging back and forth, nearing his heart. Suddenly, the prisoner thinks of a brilliant plan and places the food that his captors gave him on his strap, which guaranteed his death by the pendulum, attracting rats to chew through the straps. His plan succeeds until he realizes people are watching him and thats when the walls start to heat up and move inward. The narrator suddenly realizes that he was going to die. Either from the pit, or the pendulum. There is no escape from death. To his surprise, just as not even an inch of foot hold remains, the walls retract. However, the narrator fainted into the pit. Surprisingly, to both readers and the prisoner, himself, a French general Lasalle, ave him from falling in because they'd successfully taken over the prison in an effort to terminate the Inquisition.     One significant aspect of Edgar Allan Poe’s style is his consistent use of detailed description. He uses this tendency to great effect in his short story “The Pit and the Pendulum.” The plan for the story is very simply to create an obscure atmosphere of apprehension and anticipatory horror. Poe achieves this by minutely tracking the path of the narrator’s thoughts and experiences. Although the narrator is somewhat unreliable in nature, his unreliability is inferred, stemming from his fear and physical weakness, rather than from guilt or inherent madness.
