Madam C.J Walker had 5 siblings, but lucky her she was born the first in the family to be a free slave. As a child Ms. Walker received very little education. Walker adult jobs consisted of being a washer woman, she hardly earned around a dollar as daily wages through that occupation. She later went on to work with an entrepreneur named Annie Turnbo Malone and sold hair care products on behalf of the business woman. Madam and her second husband set up an institution named Lelia College in 1908 in a bid to groom the sales persons into hair culturists. She also establishes beauty school and salons in Indianapolis. Later Mrs. Walker business operation expanded across cites such as Jamaica, Cuba, and Panama. The impact Madam C.J. Walker had on society was that she was the first self-made female millionaire in United States. She made her fortune by creating and marketing a line of beauty products for black women. In Mr. Gates early life, he was born as William Henry “Bill” Gates III on October 28, 1955. Mr. Gates was born in a wealthy family, his father was a lawyer and his mother served on the board of directors for First Interstate Banc System and the United Way, he also has two sisters. Mr. Gates was very well educated, at the age of 13 he wrote his first software program on the school’s computer and by the time he was in high school he, along with some of his friends, had computerized their school’s payroll system. Mr. Gates graduated from high school in 1973. He was a National Merit Scholar and scored 1590 out of 1600 on the SAT. He enrolled at Harvard College later that same year. Throughout college Bill spent most of his time on computers and was not interested in studying other subjects. His friend suggested that Bill should drop out of college to start his own business. In Mr. Gates Adult life, he collaborated to found Microsoft in 1975 It was proved to be a success and he continued to develop programming language software for various systems. In the mid 1990’s when the use of the internet spread throughout the globe, Gates focused Microsoft on the development of consumer and enterprise software solution for the internet. In January 2000, Gates had stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft though he retained his position as chairman. Mrs. Walker and Mr. Gates both impacted America society in different ways. Without Walker black women today wouldn’t have the hair products that they need to keep their hair healthy. Without Mr. Gates the world would be so much harder, we wouldn’t have the technology programs we have today and a lot of health and education systems wouldn’t be found. Even though both grew up and different time periods and in different backgrounds they both still impacted America in a positive way.
