Although present day laws stem from the Hammurabi Code, they have been changed to suit our modern-day laws. For example, one of the laws of the Hammurabi Code states: “If anyone is committing a robbery and is caught, then he shall be put to death”. Today’s legal system would not allow a person to kill someone else for committing a robbery. Therefore, new laws and practices have been put into place.
