How Did Renoir Create A Severe Body Pain?
Renoir was drafted to the army in 1870 to fight on France’s side against the enemy, Germany. During war he became ill with dysentery, an infection in the intestines. After the war was finished, he came back to Paris and continued to create even more art. In the mid 1890s, he had severe body pain, and was later diagnosed with Rheumatism, a disease that causes inflammation in the joints. By 1907 his fingers were extremely inflamed, and painting became a difficult task. Although the pain was unbearable, Renoir continued to paint, with his sons and assistants by his side, helping him reach for his palettes, brushes and canvases. By 1912, he had a stroke which left him paralyzed in a wheelchair. In 1919, before he died, the Louvre bought one of
his pieces. This was a dream come true, because as a child the Louvre was his inspiration. On December,3rd,1919 at age seventy-eight, Pierre-Auguste Renoir passed away.
