Again African Americans were still required to sit at the back of the bus because of segragation.Not only did the African Americans have to sit in the back but when the white section got filled the African American had to give up their seat so the white man could sit down.
An African American woman named Rosa Parks had just got off of work and got on the bus to go home. She sat on the front row of the colored section. Whe the white section had gotten filled the bus driver told Rosa and three other African Americans to move so the whites could sit down. Everyone moved but Rosa. She was arrested and fined ten dollars and four more dollars for court fees. Rosa had had many encounters with this particular bus driver before. She was just their secratery. Word spread about Rosa and flyers were put up for a boycott. Rosa got bailed out by some African American leaders. As news spread more African American leaders found out and leant their support. Around 40,000 African American had refused to ride the bus. African American leaders met up and formed the Mont Improvement Associayion. The association elected Martin Luther King Jr to be president. They had agreed to deny contiuing the boycott if the city meets their demands. Surprisingly the demands didnt include ending segragation but to hire African American bus drivers and having first come firdt serve. But five women from Montgumery sued the city wanting segragation
