The British wanted to regulate the tea trade in America. This aroused colonial traders. The citizens wanted the ships to return back as they did not want to pay taxes on tea. On 16th December 1773, a group of men disguised themselves and sneaked into three British ships and jettisoned all the tea into the water.

It began as a skirmish between the British troops and armed colonists on the 19th of April 1775. The British set off from Boston, Massachusetts to siege weapons and ammunitions that the revolutionary colonists had collected. At Lexington, they encountered group of minutemen, who were ordered to disperse. As the minutemen were withdrawing, someone fires a gunshot. This aroused the British troops and they attacked the minutemen. This was the beginning of the Revolutionary war. It continued for eight years across a large potion of the sub continent. Battles were fought all the way from Montreal in the north to Savannah in the south. In 1781, after six years, a huge British army surrendered at Yorktown, Virginia. However, the war still dragged on for another two years until finally a peace treaty was signed in Paris on the 15th of April
