The removal of the United States missiles was not part of the deal but they did it anyway (Cetchell). The United States of America felt the angst of having missiles pointed at them so they removed their own stationed on Turkey de-escalating political tensions further. If the Cuban Missile Crisis never had happened, there would be no reason to remove the missiles from Turkey.
