When Europeans migrated to North American, each nationality (Spanish, English, French, and Dutch) had its own distinctive way of settling in the land and interacting with Native Americans. To catch up with the Spanish in the race to exploit the possibilities of the Atlantic World, the English started to conquer other nations, particularly the Americas. However, they were not the people who cause more destruction but the Native Americans were.…
It is important to develop a clear thesis on the validity of the statement at the outset of the essay. A good essay could be developed on either side of the issue or in support of a middle-of –the-road position. Supporting paragraphs should be developed to build the position chosen. Both the Spanish and the English treated the Native Americans as inferiors, thought it important to bring them Christianity, sought to profit economically from relations with the Native Americans, and forced some Native Americans into slavery. Both brought terrible diseases to the New World, though the Spanish impact was more devastating because of earlier arrival. The Spanish attempted to integrate Native Americans into their colonial societies through intermarriage and through the establishment of agricultural communities with Native American workers. The English separated themselves from Native American life to a greater extent and relied mostly on trade for economic gain.…

To what extent did the Spanish, French, and English interact with the Native Americans differently from 1492 to 1760? Native Americans came to a great deal of harm because of interactions with the French, Spanish and English. The period known as the Indian-European contact was unarguably an extremely difficult time for the Indians, who experienced massive lifestyle changes. One major change experienced was a reduction in their population, as result of the foreign diseases brought in. This reduction in turn affected how well they could defend themselves from the outsiders trying to take control of their territories. Thus, most were eventually forced to change their homestead locations. The Indians also experienced a change in how they were perceived by the many different nationalities that wanted to take over their land.…
The Indians were stuck with decimation and weakening of empires before the Europeans arrived, and it only got worse once they did. The Spanish Conquistadors, English Colonists, French and Dutch traders and explorers, all greatly affected the political and economic systems of the Indians both positively and negatively. The early European influences, or prejudices directly linked themselves to the final outcome of the cultural elimination of the Native Americans. The English settlers called the Natives "Savages" and labeled them as uncivilized. Several times John Smith, in his works calls the Natives evil and compares them to the devil with their so-called occult like behavior. These prejudices just allowed for more hate and greed to develop in the English settlers. Even in Crevicure, the author clearly labels the European settlers as the Americans and not even putting into mind the Blackfeet and other Natives who had lived on the land for thousands of years. This ignorance to acknowledge another culture other than their own just shows how easily the prejudice dipictions made it for them to kick the other civilization right out of the picture, making them basically obsolete.…
The Spanish often mistreated the Native Americans. Not only did the Spanish not treat the native people in a friendly manner, but the Spanish enslaved the natives, battled and killed the natives, destroyed the local buildings, and attempted to make the local culture more akin to the Spanish culture. The French were the opposite of the Spanish. Although, the French became enemies with the Iroquois tribe due to the French alliance with the Huron and Algonquin tribes, a number of the French settlers lived as the Native Americans did, treated the native populations with fairness and kindness, and earned the natives’ trust. The English treatment and relations with the native people varied. Relations often started as good, but then deteriorated when the settlers encountered hardships and demanded labor, food, and supplies from the…
