The success of Rome happened almost in an instant. In less than a century, Rome had already conquered a vast amount of land (McKay et al. 103). Their ability to add new territory with ease was largely credited to their cultural effect on conquered peoples. Rome had extended citizenship to newly added provinces which Roman law could take control (McKay et al. 103). The traditions and laws of Rome would last numerous years, but could not hold out forever as a new way of life barged its way in to the empire.
