Although, it is hard to say when exactly the Industrial Revolution began, most historians agree upon it beginning around 1750. One huge factor to the cause of the Industrial Revolution was the Agricultural Revolution. The Agricultural Revolution made it to where everyone could eat at lower prices, which increased their wealth and gave them a chance to buy more manufactured goods. This caused a huge supply and demand effect creating a need for more factories, which jump started this revolution. “By 1850, the Industrial Revolution had made Great Britain the wealthiest country in the world; it had also spread to the European continent and the New World.” (Spielvogel p. 593).

The huge advancement of urbanization and inventions like the steam engine caused a depletion of natural resources. The huge population increase caused an enormous amount of factories to pop up everywhere, which needed coal and iron to be produced. All of these factories and all of the steam engines that were being produced needed coal to be powered. Not only did it cause a huge depletion of these resources, but it caused a huge increase of pollution by the chemicals these factories and inventions
