For thousands of years, ancient Greece and Rome have influenced and inspired our modern day structures. You could put it as we owe a lot to the Greeks and Romans. Everywhere we look, we can thank the Greeks for gifting us with their culture and designs that has influenced the world today. You may not know it, but the architectural structure of your school or workplace may be based on the ideas of the Greeks and Romans. Your clothing or even your science and math that you learn everyday is all thanks to the Greeks and Romans. The Greeks and Romans have contributed to governmental structure and laws, architectural structure, and sports, or what is know as a tradition known as the Olympics, and many more.

Due to the brilliant ideas of the Greeks and Romans, we have them to thank for our everyday laws that protect us from the government and prevents them from becoming too powerful. These laws give criminals or people who are accused of committing a crime the chance the be innocent until they are proved to be guilty. The Greeks were formed into a strong government that would grow their culture and ideas as a whole. Pericles, and Athenian politician, believed that the citizens had rights and responsibility not for only themselves but also to their empire. They were one of the first people to ever come up with a democracy, but only male citizens could participate in political situations. The male citizens were also expected to help defend Athens, serve on a jury, and participate in debates about issues. He believed that if the male citizens weren’t into politics then they should just leave.
