How Did The Mongols Affect Russia
The Mongols had one of the largest land empires in history, though this did not come easily to them. To be able to control the amount of land they did, they had to conquer many places like China and Russia and did so using a strong and well trained army along with many allies, and good tactics. The Mongols had a large influence on both the political and economic systems of Russia and China for a period of time, though in Russia, the Mongols ruled from afar and the original rulers still had control of their land and were left to govern themselves to an extent whereas in China the Mongols affected them more by controlling them directly.
The Mongol conquests impacted places differently, however, in China and Russia, the Mongols had a large influence on both their political and their economic systems. Both China and Russia had good governing systems and a strong economy. This helped Moscow the most because over time the city was gradually rebuilt and its princes slowly swallowed up nearby towns and surrounding villages. After 1328, Moscow profited from its status through being the tribute/tax collector for the Mongols that controlled them. Though in China, the Mongols attacked and slaughtered people and after they entered and had control they were able to control their government. When the Mongolian armies of the Golden Horde started to move west, by the 13th century, Kiev was in a period of decline and Russia was divided into small kingdoms. These Russian kingdoms were unable to unite and create a large army before the Mongols came to attack and conquer their land. Batu, Chinggis Khan’s grandson, invaded in 1236 and defeated Russian armies (after being taken over, the Russians became vassals of the Khan of the Golden Horde). Also the Mongols were mostly negative, Mongol occupation was important to Russia. This is shown through the influence of military and political organization. But most importantly, the Mongols isolated Russia from developments in western European civilization; like the Renaissance and the…

For the first time in history china was ruled by a foreign nonnative ruler. The Mongols like in Europe impacted China greatly during their invasion, but unlike Europe in China it was more of a negative effect then positive. The Mongols changed China “huji system” which some relate it to a caste system, they also effected their standards and values. They favored the peasants, merchants and artisans because they produced the things they needed. The Mongols were nomadic, travelers and traders so they related better with the peasant class because of the similarities of their everyday life. Mongols had a bad effect on the Chinese trading, since most of the Mongols where conquers and nomads they were not good at governing and couldn’t control the trading properly which resulted in a speedy decline over time. Central Asia was also invaded during this time which marked the beginning of the Mongol conquest of the Islamic states. It broke the shahs’ army and united all the lands…

The way that the Mongols controlled China and Russia economically had both differences and similarities. One difference of how the Mongols treated China instead of Russia economically was that with China the Mongols had direct rule and wanted to have all control of the Silk Road. Unlike Russia, the Mongols had indirect control over them. In which then, it made China’s class later to be seen that there was poverty everywhere. The Chinese saw this Mongol rule cruel and unacceptable because it led China to a devastating point. Another difference of how the Mongols treated china and Russia was that although the Chinese population decreased due to its economical problems it stayed all together as one nation. In the other hand Russia split up and went to agricultural methods. Those are two economical differences of how the Mongols treated China and Russia. Finally one similarity was that both of Russia’s and China’s economics dropped, and they both dependent on their trades. This means that although the Mongols took over the silk road for the Chinese, they still got a little bit of money from it because they traded good things such as silk and porcelain, and in Russia their economics went down because they were required taxes, meaning that they took money away from them, even if the Russian’s weren’t wiling to do that. Meaning that the Russians and the Chinese depended on their trade because they were asked to give taxes and didn’t have enough money for all that the Mongols asked for. In conclusion you…

The substantial size of the empire alone was enough to cause rulers difficulty in controlling the citizens. From 1162-1227, the Mongol was at it’s height, but from 1769-1821, the Mongol had decreased. As new emperors came to rule they were unable to control the empire in an organised way, so the size of world conquest decreased dramatically. The first ruler, Genghis Khan, conquered 4,860,000 square miles while the last ruler, Napoleon Bonaparte, conquered 720,000 square miles. After Genghis came Alexander the Great, but he only conquered 2,180,000 square…
