One of the biggest Resistances to the Nazis was the the White Rose, which was formed by the Students of the University of Munich in 1941 to take action against the Nazis. The group included the Hans Scholl, Sophie Scholl, Cristoph Probst, Alexander Schmorell, Willi Graf and Jugen Wittenstein. But also a philisophy teacher named Kurt Huber was a part of the anti-nazi group. They used the strategy of passive resistance which uncluded the publishing of leaflets calling for the restoration of democracy and social justice. These leaflets were distributed throughout Germany and the Gestappo became aware of the group. Some members were serving in the German Army which provided them with information about the commitments of the SS. Others have seen Jews being murded in Poland and the Soviet Union. …show more content…
The leaflets were sent to people all of kind all over Germany.
Bar owners and university lecturers where one of the targeted groups that got alot of leaflets in 1942. One year later the group published ' 'Passive Resistance to National Socialism ' ' where they explained their concerns and beliefs: "We want to try and show them that everyone is in a position to contribute to the overthrow of the system. It can be done only by the cooperation of many convinced, energetic people - people who are agreed as to the means they must use. We have no great number of choices as to the means. The meaning and goal of passive resistance is to topple National Socialism, and in this struggle we must not recoil from our course, any action, whatever its nature. A victory of fascist Germany in this war would have immeasurable, frightful
consequences." The group also believed that the youth of Germany had the power and will to overthrow Hitler and fashistic Government. They wrote several leaflets and articles directly targeted at the young people. In the meantime they also started to paint anti-nazi slogans on houses and crossing out swastikas. The group was eliminated in a time-span of one month. On the 18th February, when Sophie and Hans Scholl went to leave piles of leaflents in public places and specifically at the University of Munich, they got caught by member of the Nazi party. The Gestapo directly arrested them and executed them 2 days later. The rest of the members were arrested in the comming days and weeks and most got executed. I think that the ' 'White Rose ' ' was one of the strongest resistances if not the strongest since they were organised and spread the wold all over Germany and changing peoples minds. Even though they couldn 't finish that they started they could reach out to a lot of people and divided the german population. The only problem was that the Hitler regime was very strict and brutal against people that are against his will resulting in people being quiet even though they agreed with the resistances such as the White Rose
