With the fear of losing countries to communism, an international conference known as the Geneva Accords, held in Geneva, established a temporary division into a communist northern and non-communist southern state. The United States did not part take in this agreement; instead, Eisenhower created the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization(SEATO). The SEATO is similar to NATO and is a U.S. dominated pact including: Great Britain, France, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, the Philippines and Pakistan.
