As a manager, there are external and internal factors that can affect the quality of care. An internal change can be by creating a positive work environment. This can be done by showing your appreciation of staff and what they have done on the unit. The manager's way of showing appreciation can come in various forms. Showing unit appreciation can boost unit morale thus can improve patient quality of care.
The external factors that a manager cannot control sometimes how patients may feel. There are patients no matter what you do or say they will not be satisfied. Thus, making the job of a manager difficult when it comes to
unit satisfaction scores. However, the recommended choice for quality management programs would be the Six Sigma because it is patient-focused, data-driven, proactive management, boundaryless collaboration and has goals that focus on excellence but with allotted mistakes (Sullivan, 2018, p. 78).
