How Does Environment Influence One's Identity
“Agua que no es de beber, déjala correr.” -unknown. What is identity? Identity is what represents who you are, who you create yourself to be. It is important for one to know their identity and what impacts it the most, so that one does not end up being the worst version of theirself. Although some people may argue that gender has the biggest impact on a person’s identity, environment has the biggest impact because one is influenced by their surroundings and tends to often fall into the habit of following what everyone else does to “fit in”.

First of all, it is quite noticeable that one is easily influenced by their surroundings in other words their environment. For example, my uncle used to be so much happier when he would tend to his yards, but he now he lives in an apartment, stressed. My dad is always home, and he stresses about every little thing and hates being outdoors. As you can see, the environment does have the power to change one’s

This point of view makes sense because caretakers do set up expectations and examples for their children depending on their genders. Those people are overlooking the fact that many kids and teens do not follow those expectations or examples because they are even more influenced by what's outside of their home. One can see it is actually one’s environment that has the biggest impact on identity.

In conclusion, one's environment has the biggest impact on their identity because it shapes one’s personality. One’s personality makes them who they are. It is important to be aware of what shapes/creates identity although it may not seem something bad at first. In modern day society, one goes ahead and follows what people out in society are doing. One should always remember that if something or someone is not needed in their life, it would be better to just let
