The story begins with entire town attending to Miss Emily’s Grierson’s funeral with curiosity of what was inside her house. It was discovered she discontinued the china painting lesson. Miss Emily and Barron were noted spending life together “… see him and Miss Emily on Sunday afternoon driving in the yellow- wheeled buggy...” (Faulkner). It didn’t take long for Miss Emily to become the center of gossip in the town. The story further added the mystery when Miss Emily went to the pharmacist and asks for “arsenic”. She refuses to tell the reason but request the best “"I want the best you have. I don't care what kind." One can derive the clue that she is going to kill herself but reality was different. When she died at natural age of seventy four it was revealed she use the drug to kill he love Homer Barren. After reading the story I certainly can say Miss Emily was having weird and crazy personality. Who would ever kill their love one and keep locked in room? I believe the motivation of killing Homer Barren was to keep him with her
