After watching this movie, I noticed that it has great examples of leadership in it. The main leadership themes of this movie are servant leadership, leadership as resistance, group roles, team leadership, trait approach, skills approach. These few themes are demonstrated throughout the entire movie. The first them I will discuss is servant leadership. A servant leader is one who serves others first before himself or herself. There are ten characteristics of a servant leader and they are: listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to the growth of people and building community. Samwise Gamgee and Frodo are two great examples of a servant leaders. Sam is always caring for Frodo and does everything for Frodo and he meets some of the characteristics of the servant leader. Frodo is a servant leader because he is risking his own life to save everyone else from destruction. The next leadership theme listed is leadership as resistance. Throughout the movie Fordo is leading but he has to constantly battle the temptation of the rings power. The resistance make leading more difficult due to the constant battle within. An example could be described as a leaders Achilles’ heel. The leadership theme is group roles. There is a large group role in this movie. The group in this movie called the Fellowship of the Ring. The fellowship has to all work together to carry out the task at hand. Role of the group must be able to function in times of change. For example, Aragorn had become the main leader of the fellowship when Gandalf was taken into the darkness by the ancient demon. This show that the group leader’s role had to change but the group still functioned well after the great change. The next leadership theme listed is team leadership. Team leadership is a great way to get things down. A team is a group
