As football dominates the sports world, soccer is slowly rising in America. People all around the world love to play it to. So, I started thinking and I through will helium effect a soccer ball. Personally, I do not think it will affect it, but I am eager to find out. My experiment is does helium affect a soccer ball here is how I did it.
1. Get two size five soccer balls.
2. Get a device to measure your length of how far you kick the soccer ball. ( what I used was the measurement of the soccer field and added and subtracted from certain points)
3. Get a tank of helium( for a device to siphon the helium I used a sports needle and some duct tape and taped it to the nozzle)
4. Go to a soccer field or some sort of open field.
5. kicked the marked balls 10 times each
6. measure it and build a graph
My hypothesis is that the air will go farther because of the push. I kicked the 2 soccer balls 10 times. With my research I have concluded that air will go a little farther. With accuracy that I did exactly did that. I kicked the air filled ball 68 yards and the helium 66 yards. So my hypothesis is correct. …show more content…
Lift is one of the forces of aerodynamic flight others are drag, weight, and thrust. Lift is the component of the aerodynamic force that is perpendicular to the direction of flight (NASA, 2015). Since soccer ball don’t have an air foil (a wing) it uses the spinning. The affect works as the following: The ball spins and the front of the ball creates a high-pressure zone (an area where lots of air builds up) and in the back, there is a low-pressure zone which. In the low-pressure zone, the ball is pushed up. By using this the helium makes the soccer ball lighter which may increase air time. Helium weighs .1785 grams per liter. Soccer ball weighs 450 grams, with air that still a lot so the helium won’t make the ball float. It will be lighter though which might help the
