Persons are much more complex than just thoughts--emotions, personality, and flaws are all factors to be considered. Although such characteristics are not required to think, they are requirements of persons. If robots cannot have such qualities than they are not to be treated morally equal to a person. To begin ,even though some robots will be programmable to understand and even process emotion, they will not be able to realistically and humanistically feel them. Emotions such as sympathy, empathy, guilt and regret are those that are necessary for one to be considered morally equal to a human being. Additionally, emotions, to a certain extent, can affect a person's physiological self in ways that scientists and doctors have yet to figure out. Sure someone can program such effects in a robot, but it will not be as authentic as a human
