First of all, Jem has evolved he most because he defends his sister, Scout.
For example, Jem says to Mrs. Dubose “My sister ain’t dirty and I ain’t scared of you’ although I noticed his knees shaking” (Lee 141). For instance, Scout writes “[Jem] was certainly never cruel to animals, but i had never known his charity to embrace the insect world. ‘Why couldn't I mash him?’ I asked ‘because they don’t bother you,’ Jem answered in the darkness. He had turned out his reading light” (Lee 320). Jem realizes that you shouldn’t kill an insect because it’s innocent. Jem came to the point from where he has became a mature adult. He wasn’t about to let Scout kill someone that does nothing but live it’s only little life. For example, Boo Radley is innocent because he hadn’t left the house or done anything to hurt someone. Jem has learned that and understands his situation trying to teach Scout the same thing. While some people may feel that scout has evolved the most throughout the book, however they did not change as much as jem.
