Lamar has won several grammy’s, and has a large following of all different ethnicities, and cultures. Kendrick Lamar’s songs have strong messages about how races need to come together to resolve problems. Kendrick Lamar is changing the world in non violent ways. The song unapologetically attacks racism and the corrupt oppressive system in the United States. The song has been a major influence in the black lives matter movement that has been occurring the past couple of years. Since this song came out in 2015 a greater amount of celebrities have been willing to speak out to the public about the black lives matter movement. This would be an example of a positive change that has happened since the song came out, but it hasn’t all been good. Huffington post says that about “258 black people were killed by police in 2015 alone”.(Craven) This problem has only made the black lives matter movement stronger. This song is targeting the youth of America. Not just African Americans and white people, but all races need to listen to the lyrics of this song and realize that racism is not a joke. The lyrics in “The Blacker the Berry” are aggressive and get right to the point and some would argue this is the wrong way to address the racism problem in America but frankly Lamar has his own ideas which has made him the successful artist he is
