How Does Marion Reflected In The Film
The first scene in the film when Marion is not wearing a shirt and she is in bed with a man catch my attention because for the 1960 films you don’t see this often and is the way that the movie starts and if you play close attention to the dialogue you can almost read Marion’s mind when received the $40,000 cash.
When Marion is tired and she is taking a shower she is nude! (1960) and the director doesn’t rush the scene otherwise he shots from all kinds of angles not only focus on Marion, but the water, bathroom curtain, bathroom door and the shower drain. When the killer enter to scene wasn’t a quick killing, the killer stabbed the victim more than five times until she finally died.

Jenn Fang portrays Orientalism as "the way that the West perceives of -and thereby defines- the East" (Fang 3), and it is similar to The Slanted Screen by Jeff Adachi, that Asian were dominants by Western in the movie industries. When Asian are given parts in tv and film, those parts often maintain the stereotypical ideology which has been prevailing for quite a long time by Western. Asian American stereotypes in these media range from martial arts or bad guys, often set forth a wrong impression of what Asian Americans resemble.…

This brilliantly written script has many innuendos of these scholarly ladies acting a bit like men in order to make the point that women can and should have equal rights. The plot thickens when Ben Weissman (Patrick Dempsey) tries to seduce the beautiful Alice Paul. Weissman shows Paul how to feel sexy, and that it’s okay to feel like a woman. Von Garnier has incredible insight on how to make a woman feel beautiful when she flashes pictures of Paul taking a bath, shots of her lips, and her smiling.…

For the film, the first and foremost, the film has the absolutely stellar central performance by Whoopi Goldberg. It’s a soulful portrayal completely lacking in vanity; one of the very best ever captured on film. Also of note is the film’s beautiful cinematography, particularly during the scene which inspires the title. The women in this film are portrayed in a way that is nothing but sympathetic, but these portrayals come at the expense of the male characters that are shown in one of two ways: bad and cruel, or good and stupid. The relationships between men and women in the film are universally portrayed as bad, in one way or another, and stripped of the intricacy with which they were granted in Walker’s novel. The relationships in the novel are not nearly so simplistic or cut and dried, even the abusive relationship between Celie and her husband, Mister.…

One of the most influential film movements in the 1940's was a genre that is known today as film noir. Film noir was a recognizable style of filmmaking, which was created in response to the rising cost of typical Hollywood movies (Buss 67). Film noir movies were often low budget films; they used on location shoots, small casts, and black and white film. The use of black and white film stock not only lowered production costs, but also displayed a out of place disposition that the conventions of film noir played upon. It is these conventions: themes, characters, lighting, sound, and composition, which are seen in the movie LA Confidential (Curtis Hanson, 1997). This paper discusses the techniques used in LA Confidential that link the movie with the typical cinematic conventions of the film noir style.…

Prior to watching Baraka, I had a firm belief that the world is truly a beautiful place to live. This film all the more strengthened my conception. The title of the film in itself proves this – the world is a blessing, and we are all privileged to call this world our home. Besides, where else would we live? Science can only take us so far.…

Most of the scenes are actually chocking and most likely make most of us uncomfortable. Therefore, it is difficult to choose one particular scene within an avalanche of straight forward sequences. The scene(s) that amazed me the most, besides those violent women’s orgasmic screams, was the performance of a bearded a man dressed as a “soldier” making a parody of war and the sexual nature of man’s fascination with guns by stalking affluent New Yorkers on the street…

The film techniques I have chosen to discuss is the idea of “Voyeurism” and the use of camera angles used in conjunction with lighting to enhance the idea of voyeurism. A Quote from Alfred Hitchcock reads “I’ll bet you that nine out of ten people, if they see a woman across the courtyard undressing for bed, or even a man puttering around in his room, will stay and look; no one turns away and says, ‘It’s none of my business.’ They could pull down their blinds, but they never do; they stand there and look out.”, this outlines Hitchcock's view of voyeurism, which heavily featured over Hitchcock's…

In the novel, Lord of the Flies, many of the characters provide insight to humanity and civilization. One of the main characters, Simon, is a shy boy that does not fit in with the rest of the group. Golding shows this when he writes, “Simon was happy to be accepted” (104) when he talks to Ralph and how Simon is often referred to as “batty” (111). Though Simon is often thought of as crazy, he is actually quite sane and almost saint-like in the way he acts.…

Based on a book of the same name published by Amy Tan, The Joy Luck Club tells the stories of four Chinese women and their daughters who were raised in America. While the film focuses a great deal on the relationships between the mothers and daughters and how their stories intertwine, as well as the history of each person and the trials they went through both in China and America, it also showcases some Chinese cultural and religious beliefs. Religion, folktales, culture, and superstition were all prevalent in much of the daily lives of the women, shaping how they interacted with and raised their individual children as well as how they viewed themselves. In this paper, I will be focusing on how the different beliefs and customs were displayed in the film and how their lives were formed around and changes by them.…

    The Blind Side

“The Blind Side” is a wonderful movie that touches your heart when watching it. A great real story that forces you to dig deep inside your soul. When I watched it, I was taken by three impressive scenes. The first was a scene in which Sandra Bullock lies on her bed smiling after bringing Mike home with her. It’s a smile of content and of real happiness. It’s that kind of smile we draw on our faces when feeling satisfied and fulfilled with goodness. This is what real happiness is about; it’s not wealth or positions. True happiness is feeling good about yourself. The second scene which is the most to touch the heart is when Sandra prepares a bedroom for Mike to sleep in and takes him to see it. He stands surprised and says: “this is mine? I didn’t have one before, “Sandra replies: “what? A room for yourself?” He says: “No. A bed!!!” It’s so effective and painful. It taught me to appreciate what I have and to thank God everyday for all he blessed me with. Finally, the third scene is a scene in which Sandra is sitting with her rich friends talking about Mike. They tell her that she has changed that boy’s life, and she simply replies with the greatest smile on her face: “No, he changed mine. “ Sometimes we tend to help people and change their lives to better ones, and they end up changing ours deeply. It is an effective movie which, in my opinion, deserves the…
