At present you will see how the media has portrayed an ‘impossible-to-achieve’ body image of today’s women. Media has managed to manipulate modern society’s thoughts on what exactly is the perfect body whether it be by the use of watching movies on the big screen, television, magazines, advertisements, and social media, everyone is exposed to it in today’s modern age. Examples are shown around us daily but sometimes go un-noticed as we are so used to it. I’m here to tell you that the media has poorly set up the thought of the perfect body to today’s society and it is affecting a lot of young people.

With trend setting happening everyday most of them are not achievable for many people, such as the thigh gap challenge where it is thought that you are more beautiful to have a gap between your thighs with your feet together, this is physically not achievable for everyone as people have different shapes and body types. When specific body challenges are glorified by the social media it targets vulnerable women into thinking less of themselves.
In the future I would love to see the media realise that the standards that have been created are doing harm to young men and women, and show more stuff like this article. They have the power to fix the problem and we need to let our generation know that these standards that are being set should not be set and stop mass media with continuing body shaming even if it is subtle.
