A “Foil” Character changed greatly the outcast of the ending in the story. Clarisse McClellan a seventeen year old, Montag’s neighbor played that role in the story. She was a free thinker in Montag’s society. She helped realize Montag how unhappy he was with the way he was living, and made him realize also how the government controlled their society by burning books.
