In this paper I am going to examine the use of one technological innovation that has an impact on the development of popular music. I will describe the development and impact of the Internet of popular music.
Following Shapiro and Varian (1999) the development of music technology can be characterized by several aspects such as consumption, production and distribution.
Technology influences the demand for music to be extended including costs and similar variations. The role of demand is exemplified by Klym’s (2005) invention by consuming music over network devises.

With the creation of the internet, now we have new options to work with music.
Since 1970 the computers were used in popular music as an instrument for producing music and as a recording platform. The usage of computer as a music production tool has developed from music processor – Fairlight Computer Musical Instrument and Alfa Syntauri systems (Besson 2012).
With the advanced computer technology music is accessed in many ways that was not possible even some years ago. The catalogs of different artists and genres of music become available on the Internet.
We can collaborate with people across the world, which gives the advantage for creating new sounds. Because of the Internet we have an opportunity to consume a great variety of streams and torrents of music (Moisio 2011).
There are plenty of social networks such as Sound cloud, where anyone can listen to music as well as decide to work with. With the help of computer one can produce, record and upload music without an organizational group or record label managers
