his way, he can rule the others in any way that he wants to. Another important way Napoleon seeks his power, is by finding others weaknesses. At one point he begins stealing and uses the others greed to make a group who will support his decisions. Napoleon also uses his knowledge, and only educates the animals he knows who will agree with him and make the other animals believe that they are actually educated. The only other way Napoleon gained power is by the powerful propaganda that he used. He used certain type of propaganda to brainwash the animals into thinking that having the pigs be the leaders would be the best for the farm.
Orwell uses the power struggle to convey the theme of this story to represent historic events and figures. Also describes different disputes of Russian and Soviet society. Such as when Snowball’s and Napoleon’s power struggle was just like Trotsky’s and Stalin’s. Also, when Frederick’s trade agreement broke with Napoleon. This represents the Nazi-Soviet non aggression pact that leaded to World War II. The Battle of the Windmill is representing World War II. Orwell is also less specific about some of the animals. For example, he doesn’t explain the Red Terror or The Great Purge very well. The executions that occur represent both of the conflicts that happen but connect them more to the Moscow Trials than to the Red Terror. Orwell also leaves some details about the Rebellion and Battle of Cowshed, so that the person reading focuses on the main point of Stalinism. He also wants to give warnings about all the bad things to do with totalitarian governments
