Iago is constructing a hypocritical “brotherly love” type of relationship with Othello. This creates Othello to have trust and confidence in him, better than the one with his wife. Othello is a jealous man and is angered that his wife has slept with Cassio, his right hand. An unacted sin of Desdemona has been leading Othello to mistreat her by a false accusation of Iago. Moments later, Othello has forgotten that he had a meeting with the nobles of Cyprus, since he is reminded by Desdemona. Desdemona then felt a strange to see her husband bothered. She had asked why and was responded that he had a headache, so she offers to tighten his head with a handkerchief. Othello then proceed to ignore the kind gesture that Desdemona gave him, causing the handkerchief to fall on the floor. There was no doubt in his mind that he will take in power after Othello. After the meal with the nobles of Cyprus, Othello has met up with Iago to speak some more. Iago has lied and that he had saw Cassio with one of Desdemona’s handkerchief that Cassio spoke of a sexual dream about Desdemona. This has disappointed Othello for hearing such thing. Othello no longer cared but to damn his wife and Cassio.They both plan to kill Cassio but Othello is seeking for revenge as well. As the scene is ended with Iago becoming Othello’s lieutenant, Desdemona is found with some clowns seeking for Cassio. Since she couldn’t communicate with Cassio, she left a message with the clowns that whenever they see him, to go look for her. Emilia then comes up to Desdemona wondering what is wrong with her. Desdemona is looking for the handkerchief that she lost. She now knows that Othello will be furious knowing that she lost it or someone keeps hold of it. Emilia then starts criticizing about how awful men are. If Othello cannot get rid of his jealousy, then it will manifest like a “monster". That will be within him and grow upon him.
