Social and Emotional: Family is a big influence in a child’s development. Parents play a big role by providing care and guidance for their development .Unfortunately some families cannot promote the…
Young children who lack at least one loving and consistent caregiver in the earliest years may suffer severe and long-lasting development problems. This landmark study of scientific brain research shows environmental stress, even among infants and toddlers can interfere with the proper development of neural connections inside the brain essential to a child's proper social and emotional development (Shonkoff and Phillips, 2000).…
When an infant does not have the proper care and nurturing they grow up with emotional deprivation that cannot be healed if treated too late. In a study, done by Harry Harlow and Margaret Harlow on rhesus monkeys, they found that monkeys who did not have a mother figure in their lives were more emotionally incapable to deal with stressful situations, and they didn’t know how to raise their own offspring. On the other hand, the monkeys who were raised with a stand in cloth mannequin of sorts were more able to deal with stress than those who had been raised in isolation. At the conclusion of the study of the rhesus monkeys the Harlow’s noticed that even though some of the monkeys had a stand in for a mother they were not the same as monkeys who had been raised by real mothers. A mother’s love is most important in the development of an infant.…

In the past, developmentalists have underestimated the importance of a father's interactions with the child in early development.[17] However, researchers have recently found that father involvement in early life has significant effects on subsequent child development. These studies include infants' exposure to paternal depression and its repercussions on the child's development.[55]…
The effect on adopted individuals, are measured through several scientific studies with the help of parents and children. Children who are adopted are compared to other non-adopted peers, neglected children, and children in their current environment in terms of intellect and behavior. Compared to those who live with their non-disruptive birth parents, adopted or neglected or neglected lack in many aspects of language, intelligence, and behavior. Even though Adopted children have more disadvantages compared to the peers in their new environment, parents are able to give them the resources they need to grow cognitively.…
There has been increasing evidence that environmental factors play an important role in the process of gene expression (Fox, Levitt & Nelson, 2010). These experiences can enhance or inhibit neural connectivity in what is called sensitive periods (key developmental stages) that in return can have a relation with brain development. Moreover, this paper will present how early experiences can influence the brain architecture. Specifically, the effects that early paternal and/or maternal deprivation, and neglect can have on the brain development in early childhood.…
I would have to agree with the movie that a mother’s touch is a very interesting and important aspect of a one’s development. I always had my mother around when I was growing up, and when she was at work it was my grandparents who took care of me. I eventually went to pre-school and then onto school when I was older. I would have to say that because of my mom always being there for me, I developed just fine physically and mentally. I can also see this in my brothers and sisters who are younger than me. My mom was always around for them growing up, because she didn’t have to work and wanted to take care of my brothers and sisters. They are all grown up for the most part now, there are 6 of us total, so my mom had quite a bit of experience in raising us. I’m not sure if she was aware of this study at the time or knew that her touch would benefit us.…

[First six years, total seclusion in a darkened room, no contact with other people but her mother…] Priimate Studies: [monkeys been raised away from their mothers and contact with other monkeys…results: easily frightened; isolation had damaging effects on them] [use ‘artificial mothers’ on monkeys…results: infant monkeys developed greater social attachments from their need for warmth, comfort, and intimacy than from their need for milk]…
Children are affected by the amount of love shown towards them. The majority of the evidence, done by researchers, is clear that mothers are more effective as parents when they themselves and fathers are both supportive partners and nurturing parents. Children are great recipients of affection when raised by warm, loving parents.…
Children that are abandoned by their parents in the early stages of their lives are already limited from developing as they don’t even know their real parents and usually the quest to find their parents takes over from their learning. Children that live in orphanages may also be restricted from cognitive development, if they attend school they could experience bullying or being singled out due to their living arrangement and would…
Consequences arise when parents don’t spend enough time with their children, one would be behavior toward the society, and the other is the negative affect on the family bond. First of all, children might seek attention from people around them, which may result might make him loose them. For example, when a child comes home from school, he/she likes to talk about what has happened in school, and kinds of details about his/her day. However, if that person was not around on a regular basis, the child will slowly start to seek attention from elsewhere. Second comes the lack in the family bond. For example, parents will get used to not having their children around, therefore, consequently will not value their parents presence like they should, so neither of the two parties will value the other and as a result, this valuable parent-child bond will start to get weaker with time. Thirdly, communication between parent and child will be effected, which will lead to many issues ahead. For example, when a child lacks communication with his parents, attention will be pursued with someone else, which is not an advantage for either the child or the parent. Many children tend to develop a sense of shame and embarrassment when such issues arise. Moreover, if attention is still not found, emotional issues arise, where children…
From genes to bequests, parents have important influences on the income, health and general living standards of their children as adults (Ermisch, 2003). Parents either working within the country or overseas influence their children in countless ways. They create the environment that the child is raised in, and heavily influence the personality and intelligence by the ways they interact with the child. As the child grows, they prepare him or her for life as an adult either directly or indirectly.…
