He always is getting into trouble with his sister but most of the time it is about things that do not matter. Pip is the kind of young man you would not believe to be caring but he is, he never gives up even when he feels like he should have given up long ago. “My sister Mrs. Joe Gargery, was more than twenty years older than I [Pip], and had established a good reputation with her and the neighbors because she had brought me [Pip] up by hand” (Dickens 6). In this quote Pip is saying how he loves his sister because she was the one who raised him, because his parents have died. “I knew Mrs. Joe’s housekeeping to be of the strictest kind, and that my larcenous researches might find nothing available in the safe” (Dickens 9). Pip also loves his sister because she runs a good home, and he is proud to be living there. Miss Havisham is an elderly woman and she is Estella’s adoptive mother. Miss Havisham is not married, because her fiancé left her on her wedding day, and she wanted someone to love and care for. She is affected by the way Pip thinks Estella is very pretty. “I [Pip] thought I overheard Miss Havisham answer-only it seemed so unlikely-‘Well? You can break his heart” (Dickens 62). This quote is said by Miss Havisham and she is saying to Estella if he is in love with you, and you do not like him you can break his heart. “What do you think of her? ‘asked Miss Havisham ‘I do not like to say ‘I replied ‘tell me in my ear, ‘she says ‘I think she is very proud ‘I reply ‘anything else? She asked” (Dickens 63). In this quote Miss Havisham and Pip are having a discussion about Estella because pip really likes her. It affected others by the way Pip sounded like he really cared for Estella even though he thought she was a very proud young woman. Also he sounded very passionate for the way he loves
