As the man sprouts up, after hearing the lantern creek the man looks around the room through the pitch, dark surroundings, looking for a soul to move. In the room the narrator explains, “Presently I heard a slight groan, and I knew it was the groan of terror”(Poe 304). Consequently, the movement of the old man threatens the narrator to trigger his attempt to terminate the malevolent eye. In contrast, the narrator can feel the groan of terror from the old man swarming up his back. The man waking up builds suspense that his death is coming near. Subsequently, the forthcoming death of the old man intensifies the building of suspense. The roommate as had been waiting all week and all night to rid of the repulsive eye. The narrator conveys “ with a loud yell, I threw open the lantern and leaped into the room, he shrieked once (Poe 305). The endeavoring suspense is leaked when the narrator reveals himself to the old man. Therefore the narrator feels proficient that he gets to destroy of the horrendous eye.
