Research shows that statistics is estimated at 3.5 million children live below the poverty line in the U.K. (Child poverty in the UK, unicef) and according to Child poverty snapshots, the local picture in Wales, save the children “approximately 600,000 children live in Wales and that one in three or 200,000 children are living in poverty in wales”. The main key issues I will be looking into are; the affect poverty has on education and the strategies to support families. These key issues are important as practitioners would be able to see the barrier poverty has on children’s learning and how to overcome them.

This could also cause health issues for example diabetes. Also if the child’s health is poor then the child could be missing out of a lot of education which could lead to the child having no friends and finding it difficult to ease into a setting and have confidence in their …show more content…
It could also motivate the children to strive for the best in education to get a job in the future which would benefit and support both them and their family. Section 1: Manatees belong to the order Sirenia, which also includes the manatee’s relative in the Pacific, the dugong, (Dugongdugon). Sirenians evolved from four-footed land mammals more than 60 million years ago. The presence of tiny pelvic bones in manatees, shaped differently in males and females, is evidence of their terrestrial ancestry. The closest modern relatives of the Sirenia are elephants, aardvarks, and hyraxes, small furry mammals that resemble rodents. These animals are large, fully aquatic, mostly herbivorous marine mammals sometimes known as sea cows. They are varied in color from dull gray to brown or black. They all have stout, tapered bodies ending in a flat, rounded tail used for forward propulsion. The forelimbs are modified into flippers; there are no hind limbs. There are three accepted living species of Trichechidae, representing three of the four living species in the order Sirenia: the Amazonian manatee (Trichechus inunguis), the West Indian manatee (Trichechus manatus), and the West African manatee (Trichechus senegalensis.…

Poverty's seems to be the strongest when it occurs early in the child's life, and when children live below the poverty line, which means they are almost at the bottom of the threshold. Poverty can effect a child development through at least 3 pathways: academics, mental health, and society says family therapist Christy L Brady. Children who experience poverty at a young age have trouble academically later in life. Author and professor, Jeanne Brooks-Gunn and Greg J Duncan both agree that children from poor families are exposed to lower quality schools and child care settings compared to non-poor families. A test shows children that live in poverty score 10 to 12 points lower than none poor children.
