In today’s society, people often think that sexism only applies to women in violent cases because that is the type of sexism the media displays. Both men and women face forms of discrimination and gender oppression everyday as a result of sexual harassment and sexual jokes. Sexism is a form of discrimination based on gender and the attitudes, stereotypes, and cultural elements associated that promote this discrimination. Sexism can be argued both ways, benevolently and negatively. For benevolently, the discrimination given to both men and women is used in a positive sense.
