How Does Shakespeare Present The Conflict Between Romeo And Juliet
Conflict is the clash between two or more parties; which has strong links to the spur of the moment decisions. During the Italian Renaissance there had been a great deal of political anarchy. Shakespeare has conveyed this in the text through the feuding families: Montagues and Capulets. In the first scene we are introduced to the conflict between the families with members and servants of their respective houses. The insult of “I will bite my thumb at them, which is a disgrace to them,” helps convey the tension of the fight between the families. Benvolio tries to stop the fight but is threatened by Tybalt who wishes to kill him. This suggests a character foil between Benvolio who desires peace and Tybalt who isn’t afraid of tension.

The play ‘Romeo & Juliet’ in itself could be considered as a connotation of conflict, showing not only the general day to day disputes, but the intense and aggressive types of conflict that we can be faced with. For example, the prologue of ‘Romeo & Juliet’ talks of the conflict as an ‘ancient grudge’ from which comes ‘new mutiny’, immediately delivering a sense of foreboding to the audience. The way in which William Shakespeare has decided to portray the conflict right from the beginning of the play could arguably be to symbolise the inescapability of conflict, almost as though a higher power is controlling the happenings of our two title characters lives.…

In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the Capulets and Montagues long-standing feud had a greater effect on their children’s behavior, rather than the nature of their own growing and developing brains. In the beginning of the play, when the first quarrel occurs, Tybalt says “As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee: Have at thee coward!’ (Shakespeare Mid-1590s). This “hate” that Tybalt and the rest of the characters have, have this belief engraved into their minds since they were taught this within their households. However, they have no particular reasons of their own for this hatred, and because they were raised with this belief, it causes their behavior to even act more immaturely and have their actions riskier, as “what motivates one teenager to take…

Conflicts make the world go around, but when is conflict reaching the point where family relationships are affected? In Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, both the Montague and Capulet families experience conflicts that in return, leave long lasting effects on their families. While many people may argue that the feuding between the families in the play cannot be used as a relative argument, Shakespeare uses this to prove that conflicts often do not need to be taken to extremes. When conflicts are taken to these extremes, family relationships are often times injured in the process of resolving the issue. Not only does this appear many places in the past, the same problem of conflicts reaching extremes still happens, and happens quite often, in the modern world. In many cases, parents and children have different views on these conflicts, which causes their…
