Some people shoplift because of the rush or feel, or some people like to fit in with they’re friends, Some shoplifters like to just take the most expensive thing they can just to show it off.
Some shoplifters don’t even notice when they will take something they see the opportunity and decide to take it. There even groups that go into a store and decide to work together to shoplift. Professional shoplifters like to steal the most expensive things and then easily resell it to someone else who had no idea that the person shoplifted it. The affects for a shoplifter is that they have to do a lot of community service or worse it just depends on the situation. The personal affects is the disappointment in they’re parents and the lack of trust that they now do not have. Shoplifting is one of the most popular crimes, maybe because it’s the easiest or most common in a teens life. And community service isn’t the worst thing that the law can do to you. They can make you quit your current job or even prevent you from getting a new job. They can make your insurance payments go up and you get a permanent Criminal record, which is very bad
news. Another long term consequence for this act, is that it might be harder for the kid to get into a good college even if they have very good grades. You can be banned from the store, or if you’ve done this more than once then they will arrest you and you will have to walk through out the store in hand cuffs which is extremely embarrassing. One thing that is hard for teens is that if they don’t even like shoplifting, they’re friends could be into it and they will always be around it and always have the temptation to act in shoplifting. The right thing to do in that situation is to lecture them why it is wrong and tell them the consequences and long term things that could ruin they’re goals for what they would like to be in the long run. Even though this is a bad crime especially in a teens life, if they do get caught in this act it will at least stop them from ever doing it again.
