How Does Surface Type Affect The Number Of Bounces
The effects of surface type on the number of bounces

Question
How does the surface type affect the number of bounces of a tennis ball?

Hypothesis
If we drop the ball on a softer surface, then it will bounce less times than on a hard one.

Materials List
Floor
Jacket
Desk
Binder (x2)
Tennis ball
Slow motion camera (phone)
Metre stick

Procedure
Set up equipment (listed above).
Drop the ball from a height of 1 metre on the first surface.
Film the drop (in slow motion).
Count and record the bounces.
Repeat 2 more times.
Find and record the average amount of bounces.
Repeat process on the other surfaces.

Data Table (you should include the WHOLE data table, not just the averages)

This experiment was to use kinetics of projectile motion and free falling bodies to determine the distance a ball will travel after it hits a bounce plate. To determine this we had to use the equations x=(1/2)at2 and v=v0+at and derive an equation that will determine the distance the ball will travel based on the height of the bounce plate and the height of where the ball will be dropped above the bounce plate. The equation made was g*(sqrt(2)/sqrt(g))*(sqrt(H)*sqrt(h)). From here we can make an estimate of how far the ball will travel after it hits the bounce plate.…

    Ball In the Cup LAB

Using two meter sticks and the tape, make a ramp for the steel ball to roll down. The ramp should extend from the top of the counter to the tabletop. Then roll the ball down the ramp and record the time it takes for the ball to roll off the ramp. Repeat this process to find the average time that will be used in the equations. Measure the height of the table from the floor. This will give you a distance in the y direction. You must also take into account the height of the cup so as to not hit the side of the cup when launching the ball. After collecting this data, plug it into the distance equation, making sure to separate the y and x components. In doing so you will obtain the position on the floor in which the ball should land. Also measure the diameter of the cup and place the center of it at the point you determine the ball will hit. Place the cup in this position then roll the ball down the ramp.…

Think about different materials that are used to make sports balls. Why don’t we use just one type of material for tennis balls, baseballs, and golf balls? Since each ball must behave differently in play, the material making up each one must be different, too. In this experiment, you will characterize how different materials behave when they are dropped.…

In 2004, Burger King’s CEO Brad Blum realized that in order to compete with large chains like McDonald’s and Wendy’s, the company needed to market their product in ways that their target market would perceive better. The first set of commercials that Crispin produced for BK where targeted more towards the mainstream media in a series of offbeat ads that were a takeoff on the comedy series The Office and reinforced the message that each customer could have a custom-made burger. This zero ind on the product and focused on the phrase “Have It Your Way.” Next Crispin made a smart move and targeted their main customer: young men. They created a website to launch BK’s TenderCrisp. On top of the website, Crispin campaign included a promotion based on a faux heavy metal band called Coq Roq. “The whole idea was to create the charade of a real band, complete with songs, videos, cell phone ringtones, and promotional merchandise.” Crispin targeted this campaign once again at BK’s target audience of young men. This kick started the perception that Bk is less of a service and more of a product. Out of all this, BK wanted to get their company in the same fast food game as McDonalds and Wendy's and communicate that BK is not be over looked. When marketing to this generation, BK made sure to make all their commercials and promotion relevant to the target market.…
