Returning home can be very intense for some veterans who have spent extensive time in battle. Some have experienced many twisted things and cannot function well in society (“Mental”). A high percentage of young veterans have committed suicide, overdosed on drugs, or died in car crashes since returning home from war (“Costs”). One million troops who served in Iraq or Afghanistan were eligible for Veteran Affairs (VA) care. 46% of them came in for VA care. Of those 46%, 48% of them were diagnosed with a mental health problem (“Mental”). There have been over 970,000 disability claims registered with Veteran Affairs by Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. This is higher percentage of service members than ever applying for disability claims
