How Droughts Affect The Budgie Population
Budgies are a type of bird that is tiny and slender. Three words that describe a Budgie greatly are, brave, strong, and smart. These birds can actually have up to three thousand feathers throughout their whole body!
Budgies live in a place where the temperature almost always stays the same. The country-side of Australia called the outback is where they live and where they thrive. Australian weather is hot and dry, but these smart, brave Budgies find ways to deal with it and are so used to it. In Australia, they have many droughts throughout the whole year. These droughts affect the Budgie population greatly. Quite a few Budgies don't survive for a while if they don't have enough food available or water present. They eat a variety of seeds. Budgies eat foods like grass seeds, fruits, berries, and vegetation. They are always searching for water because water is very valuable to them. Although they do not drink much, they can’t live without it for very long. They also feed on or near the ground. Budgies do a variety of different activities in their free time. The main activity that they do is try to find food and water. Also, Budgies are almost constantly searching and worrying about having enough food and water to survive. They are nomadic which helps them and keeps them safer and feel more secure. Budgies are always moving from one spot to the next and that keeps them quite busy! They create flocks to travel in which is good for many reasons. One reason is that it makes them feel safer and stronger. These little birds have enemies, believe it or not, just like any other animal. They fear any large birds that hold a threat to them. Budgies are afraid of snakes and monkeys. They absolutely despise being left alone and they dislike solitude a lot. They have a fear of cats, especially, and other bigger pets, creatures, or foreign
