HOW EFFECTIVES IS THE PROCESS OF FREQUENCY MANAGEMENT AND ALLOCATE IN UNITS

AIM

1. The aim of this Commandant Paper is to give an overview about the fundamental and the mechanical of frequencies management and allocations especially in Malaysian Armed Forces.

SCOPE

2. Scope of this Commandant Paper consists of:

a. Introduction.

b. Literature Review.

c. Military Spectrum Management.

d. Malaysian Armed Forces.

e. Discussion.

f. Conclusion.

INTRODUCTION

3. General Overview. The term "battlefield spectrum management" refers to managing electromagnetic spectrum resources to support telecommunications (including weapons systems) and EW requirements. This management includes allocating and assigning generating frequency resources and distributing the variables for radio systems. International agreements determine frequency allocations. Communication Security (COMSEC) variables are controlled in accordance with International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

LITERATURE REVIEW

4. Frequency Management. Frequency management can be defines as the combination of administrative, scientific and technical procedures necessary to ensure the operation of different radio communication services at any given time without causing or receiving harmful interference.

5. Spectrum management is the process of regulating the use of radio frequencies to promote efficient use and gain a net social benefit. The term radio spectrum typically refers to the full frequency range from 3 kHz to 300 GHz that may be used for wireless communication. Increasing demand for services such as mobile telephones and many others has required changes in the philosophy of spectrum management. Demand for wireless broadband has soared due to technological innovation, such as 3G and 4G mobile services, and the rapid expansion of wireless internet services. Since the 1930s, spectrum was assigned through administrative licensing.

Spread spectrum is a technique used for transmitting radio or telecommunications signals. Spread spectrum is an important component of code division multiple access (CDMA) technology, which is used in cellular telecommunications. The issues that spread spectrum addresses are noise reduction, security and resistance to jamming and interception (Janssen).…

The spectrum is considered scarce because of the limited number of frequencies for operation and two parties cannot broadcast on the same frequency in the spectrum. Interference not only can be caused by broadcasters but by natural phenomenons like thunderstorms. Another factor, which can attribute to interference is one known as Intermodulation. This happens when two or more frequencies affect each other’s transmission.…

Radio waves offer another benefit to the wireless system in addition to their range. With radio signals it is possible for multiple carriers to exist in the same space at the same time without interfering with each other. The key to making this possible is variation of frequencies. As long as concurrent frequencies are no…

3 Use the Internet to research one to two applications of the illustrated wireless technology. List each application found. Be sure to reference the Web site(s) where you found this information. To offer high-speed Internet services, a fixed wireless carrier creates a data network that operates over MDS, MMDS, or ITFS frequencies. The following diagram provides a high-level look at a typical broadband fixed wireless network, including a fixed wireless headend that connects to a central antenna that broadcasts data directly to home and business locations, or to smaller cell sites, which in turn reach remote pockets of businesses or residences. Data is either sent back upstream from customers over wireless frequencies or through traditional dial-up telephone modem connections ("How Wireless Broadband Works ", 2011).…

The latest version of this plan is for the FCC to do a multi-part, multi-directional "auction" process for a chunk of spectrum currently held by the broadcasters. Part of that auction would be to offer incentives to broadcasters to cough up the spectrum. And then part of it would be auctioning off whatever spectrum broadcasters agree to dump. Finally, part of it would also include designating some portion of the spectrum for unlicensed uses.…
