How Environmentally Affected My Life
I come from a city nowhere near as being clean or having many accomplishments, where some people are being affected due to hunger or drug addiction. All I hear on the news is how San Bernardino has a negative reputation such as having infamous teachers who don't seem to have respect for their students. Aside from all the comments, whether having teachers or having students who make the city feel unsafe. There are always opportunities around. I come from a Hispanic family and will be the first to graduate and attend college. I was blessed to have both of my parents, neither being addicted to drugs, with the exception of them working day and night in order to provide food and shelter. Even though, …show more content…
I was affected as it affected my whole family. My parents wanted to help out since my aunt had no job and was left with four kids. It limited my time with my parents even more since they worked nonstop. I had to be the one in charge of taking care of my sister, brothers and cousins to whom were eight in total. Having to take on unexpected responsibility caused me to lose motivation due to how busy a two-bedroom and one restroom house was. I lost control of my grades as they slowly started to fall apart. Having everybody use time management and follow orders was a struggle, while still completing my task as a student. I felt that nobody understood what I was going though since my parents were always working, I felt empty and with no motivation. My mother got really sick for about a week and could barely even stand up. Since she was not able to, I played the mother's role and it was challenging. One challenge I needed to face was looking after my little sister. I fed her, changed her clothes, helped her with her homework, made her feel better when she was upset, and put her to bed. I was also supposed to help my brother with his homework and make his breakfast, but he was not as challenging because he is older and more mature. In addition to all that, did my chores and took care of my mother. I was very busy and overwhelmed taking care of my siblings, mother, and myself. That week of playing an adult’s role made me realize how grateful I am to have a mother who takes care of me in the same way I took care of…
