How far has technology improved our liv
How far has technology improved our lives, and is this development good?

Ever since the industrial revolution in the end of the 1700s, people lives has changed dramatically due to the increasing use of technology. However, is the development of more complicated technology only for the better, or is it going too far? In these days we are so surrounded by the technology that living in a world without it is almost unthinkable.
Technical devices have made our lives easier in so many ways. We have dishwashers, cars, vacuum cleaners, automatic lawnmowers and so many other gadgets that saves us for hours of work or transport. This gives us more time to take part in more exciting events, use more time to gain knowledge, spend more time with family and so on. As we e.g. got gadgets to help us with house maintains, we can clearly see the change in women’s lives during the 1900’s. Women got the time to get educated, get good jobs and participate more politically. So technology gives everyone more opportunities to spend time more voluntarily on things they would like.
However, as many fancy devices are created to make our lives easier, we have also created many devices that makes it easy to waste our lives on writing about, taking pictures or talking about our lives. I am thinking about social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, twitter, tumblr (and the list goes on and on), as well as addictive games. PlayStation-, Xbox-, computer-games (to mention some) have been discussed a lot when it comes to creating a negative addiction among youth, and as we see the development in addictive phone-games (e.g. flappybird, angry birds), we can easily understand why. Therefore, even though we in one way save more time at using the newer technology, we have also created a world where people spend more time than ever before looking into a screen; maybe we have developed to that point where we save time on housework only to spend more time on Facebook. So does this mean that technology

Technology surrounds us at every moment of our lives, and we often take its presence for granted. It is important to remember its beginnings and how it shifted everyday life. The 19th century in America was a time of great change and progression. With the Industrial Revolution came an influx of new technology and ways of living, which altered the daily lives of American citizens. While the rapid advancement of technology may have had some negative effects, the developments of technology and work during the 19th century overall positively affected American society, as seen in the rise of the middle class and changes in gender roles and family structure.…

Technology and advancement is great right? Sure, for some people. Technology and advancement can have its benefits, but it can also have its negative impacts as well. In fact, a perfect time period to see this negative impact in technological advancement is the second half of the nineteenth-century in America. American technology and industrialization changed the life of many social groups. Some positively, but most negatively. The urban population felt the worst impact during this period. The New South also felt the negative effects of this period, and the middle-class got a little bit of both good and bad. Generally, in the late 1800s, technological advancements and industrialization had a severely negative impact on many different social groups.…

First consider how addictive technology has become. According to Sherry Turkle from TED Talk, her daughter spent time with her friends together looking at their mobile phones devices (Ted.com). These kids had so much fun on their mobile phones that they didn’t even look at their friends. On the other hand, technology became an essential part of our lives right now. Most of us spend time with our electronic devices that we forget where we were standing, what we were doing, or what is the purpose and objective of our life. What makes us addicted to mobile phones? Nowadays, we can do almost everything with our cellphones, such as playing videos games, accessing social networks, and watching videos online. These things have become too addictive to us, and we have spent so much time on such devices. Look back to 20 years ago, back when the time technologies were not very common compared to today. Eventually, we spent more time with each other; we hung out with friends. Technologies are advancing so rapidly that we have become addicted and have forgotten what surrounds us.…

Today, many of us use technology for just about everything in our daily lives. There is no longer a need to shop at a physical store or crack open a book. Technology can allow the world to feed itself. It has reduced the effects or natural catastrophes such as famine and floods. The world is now is now a smaller place where people can readily communicate with each other, where teachers can teach their students, where writers can record their songs, where teenagers can listen to their music, and where we can travel rapidly anywhere in the world. Technology is a negative influence on us because it separates individuals from reality. The iPod is one example; by putting in your ear-buds and immersing yourself in music while in public, you are disconnecting yourself from the real world. “For some people, the main appeal of the iPod is that it preoccupies you so that you do not have to deal with the uncontrollable factors of everyday life,” writes Krystle Song, a University of California, student on her website “Attack of the iZombies.”…

Is there such a thing as “Technology Addiction?” Some experts say that constant use of Technological Devices has not been diagnosed as an addiction yet. Others however, aren’t convinced and researchers argue that Technology Addition does exist as an addiction or even detrimental to most people’s quality of life and continues to rise (Tanaka & Terry, 2008). In a few short years technology has changed the way we interact, especially young teenagers. Television watching and going to the movies are at an all time low.
