Introduction:- A helicopter is a very unique type of aircraft that uses rotating blades (wings of a airplane, and a helicopter must be curved from the front and gradually smooth out at the back to generate lift. This shape is called an airfoil ) to acquire lift .Unlike an airplane that is dependent on speed, an airplane must fly in a certain speed to move enough air over its wings to provide lift. A helicopter's rotor also allows it to move forward ,backward, upward downward, sideways and hover without moving. Beyond doubt the rotor blades of a helicopter is very helpful to our modern society as news and radio broadcasters send helicopters to report traffic and weather patterns, and act as air ambulances and policing needs.
Questions:- How dose rotor blade length affect a helicopter fight time ?
Hypothesis:- My assumption is when one decreases the length of the rotor blades of the helicopter it's flight time will also decrease .
Materials:- Helicopter cut out Scissors Ruler Stopwatch ( Smartphone application/ wrist watch
Procedure:-
1 The safety scissors were used to cut along the solid lines on the helicopter cut out .
2 The helicopter was formed by folding the dotted lines .
3 When step 1-2 are completed the teacher allowed the continuation of the remainder of the lab
4 The helicopter was held at shoulder level
5 The helicopter was released and the stopwatch was activated
6 As the helicopter hit the ground, the stopwatch discontinued taking time and the data was recorded on the observation table within seconds
7 Repeat the helicopter drop to complete the total 3 trails
8 The scissors were used to subtract 2 cm from the blades ,repeat step 4-7
9 The scissors were used to subtract anther 2 cm from the blades, repeat 4-7
Observation:-
