How Humorists Inform Society

Imagine life without humorists. Everyone would be serious all the time. There would be no one to tell jokes and no one to ramble on about various topics that effortlessly make us chuckle and giggle. There is no doubt that humorists strive to entertain the public. Stand-up comics make themselves sound and appear as fools in front of millions of people, just to get the satisfaction of knowing that they have made someone laugh. Cartoonists, stand-up comics, satirical writers, and hosts of television programs are all humorists who get paid more money than some of the teachers in society in order to entertain the public. Humor represents an alternative way to express criticism, that cannot be expressed otherwise. Although laughter may seem impossible sometimes, humorists know how to make light out dark situations. They use creative techniques to make people laugh and joke about unfortunate events that they may have experienced in their lives. When an everyday American tries to inform society about their wrongs, they often get in trouble for it. Humorists are able to inform society of their wrongs and not get in trouble for it, because they inform society indirectly, using humor. Their job is to be blunt, but to use humor as well so that it does not seem as harsh. Kanye West is a famous mainstream entertainer. He has produced hit song s for some of the biggest names in R&B and Hip Hop in the industry, including Jay Z’s Blueprint album, Ludacris, and Alicia Keys. Kanye west has very strong political views. His criticism of George W. Bush and the American government is well known. He has stated his vies on the way black Americans are treated and discrimination in general. He was also very critical of George W. Bush’s reaction (or lack of it) to the Hurricane Katrina disaster in the predominantly black region of Louisiana. In a live televised appeal, humorist Kanye West stated that “ George W. Bush doesn’t care about black people”, which was later mixed into a song. Kanye West is allowed to criticize whatever he wants using vulgar language and inappropriate behavior without any consequences or punishments. His criticism speaks for hundreds of other people, not just himself. His status as a humorists gives him the gateway to speak for others.
