The power of stories, words, pain and the love all have no value money can buy. It makes “The Book Thief” such an interesting novel to connect too. To begin, with Hitler is very similar to a North Korean leader we all know too well, Kim Jong-un. He rules North Korea by creating forced laws about the inhabitants. Both of these dictators have many common traits. They can use powerful words to manipulate people under their control. During World War 2, Judaism was banned in Germany by Hitler. In North Korea, most religions such as Catholicism, Christian, Islam, have been restricted. This shows that both of these men are greedy for power and control for the countries they rule. Thus, this connection shows us people are still controlling lives someone in the world.

The Book Thief is similar to a book named “The Story of Anne Frank” by: Anne Frank (Diary).
Liesel and Anne have both struggled during the beginning of World War 2. Both of these young girls have experienced such tragedies within a few years which we don’t experience in our whole lives. They both had lost a sibling, were distanced from their family, and were criticized for who they were, dealing with death was just the tip of the iceberg. Within these stories, Liesel and Anne transformed from traumatized children into young independent woman. Both these books show you the cruelty that Jews had to deal with as young children. In the diary, Anne was a Jew herself feeling the pain firsthand. Anne felt completely alone and she thinks there is no escape. Anne had a very painful journey, but understands the consequences of being a Jew. In the story Hans helps a Jew from death in result of his actions Hans get whipped which makes Liesel realize the consequences of being a Jew or even helping the Jews. In conclusion, The Book thief and The Story of Anne Frank show you a glimpse what the Jews went
through.
Text-to-self:
Liesel loved books even when she was illiterate. The stories she reads helped to transform her into a mature young woman who believes in herself.. Liesel passion for reading and learning reminds me of myself when I first moved to Mississauga and I turned to reading to push the feeling of loneliness away. I was the shy quiet one no one knew about. Having no friends I made friends with books and the characters, my love for reading changed the many ways I look at books. It helps me understands Liesel love for reading and the symbolism of the books.“The Book Thief” has its way of capturing the audience's hearts and keeping the reader engaged within the book feeling the pain and the love of the story.
