A combination of kindness and understanding describes Atticus, he efforts to understand the best in people. Atticus represents an intelligent figure for readers; He endures the characteristic of patience, moreover he does not appear angry often. In addition, Mr. Finch introduces himself as a modest individual, he attempts his best not to show off in any way. However, Atticus reveals lenience towards the children, he does not enjoy punishing them. Mr. Finch usually seems easy-going, when readers notice Atticus out of character, they know the situation is serious. In all, the character portrayed as Atticus Finch demonstrates patience, humility and lenience.
Firstly, Atticus has always exhibited patience when dealing with any circumstance. Mr. Finch will never rush into things; he is willing to wait before acting. In one instance, Atticus sits in the courthouse waiting for his turn to speak to the jury, as the opposing side says something outrageous. “Judge Taylor, who had been concentrating on his fingernails, looked up as if he were expecting an objection, but Atticus was quiet” (223).
