I suspect the similarities are easier to find by reading the play because the movie really shows their contrasts. There is one similarity in that when they really believe something, they are passionate about their cause.…
There are many similarities that the two characters, but a few of them consist of both characters being hunters, liking books, being schematic, and…
The characters in My Brother Sam is Dead and Colony of Fear had similarities like adventurous and bossy. Also, Sam and Samuel are polit. Next, is that the other one is harsh. Lastly, is that some characters are rough, loyal and those are the most commons ones.…
I will attempt to explain to you in great detail the events that occurred from September 9th-22nd. It is unfortunate that your grandmother and grandfather, Giles Corey and Martha Corey were executed so brutally and wrongfully. The people of Salem are religious to a fault, which caused unnecessary violence, biased courts, and resulted in a severely skewed perception of reality,…
The main characters are parallels to each other. For example, when Melinda and Cady start out in in highschool, they enter having no ideas what to expect. “My first class is biology. I can’t find it and I get my first demerit.” (Anderson 6). In the Mean Girls movie, Cady asked where her health class was and her friends made her miss her entire class. Another example is how they favourite one class and excel in it. For Cady shes so good at math that in Junior year, she takes senior AP trig. Melinda also favours art “Art follows lunch like a dream follows a nightmare.” (9). One final similarity is that they enter high school with no friends. On the first day of school, Cady gets denied seats in her first class because people didn’t want her to sit near them. When Melinda goes to school on the first day of school she has a hard time finding a seat on the bleachers because all of her friends abandoned her “I am an outcast. There is no point looking for my ex-friends.” (4).…
One way that Holden and Jim are similar relates to their families. Holden and Jim don't exactly get along with their parents. Holden shares with us in the novel that he doesn't like talking much about his parents, and he chose roaming the streets of New York rather than being with them. Jim also resents his dad, as he doesn't take on the male roles society expects him to, but rather more “feminine” ones. He also isn't fond of his mother bossing his dad around, and his dad just simply taking it without standing up for himself.…
“Excellency this child’s gone wild.”is a quote that was said by Reverend John Hale in the story The Crucible. This was said right before he quit the court for hanging inacents. Reverend John Hale is a which expert that was called in to salem for there which issues.Reverend John Hale goes buy Reverend Hale and he end up doubting himself and quitting the court. Reverend Hale and I are similar in personality because we both are sympathetic, self confident, and rational.…
Although, Wes and the other Wes Moore had a lot of differences, they both had same similarities such as; they were raised by their mothers, grew up in same city and involved illegal activities. First, both Wes and the other Wes Moore were raised by their…
After reading The Crucible by Arthur Miller, one cannot help but wonder why when given the chance to confess to the accusations and live, did the characters choose to stay firm and die? For people today that question is not easily answered. In the past however, this was not a question at all. The answer was found within the strong religious background that most of the accused were raised on, and the feeling of pride and honor they felt in their hearts. John Proctor exemplifies the importance of a strong name through his actions and choices throughout the play; most significantly the fourth act when he chose death over disgracing his name. Giles Corey's refusal to reveal the name of the informant who accused Putnam of conspiracy also shows the…
Cilla and I are very similar in many of the things we do, but we are different in our own ways as well. Cilla and I are alike in a lot of things. First of all, we both love to learn. When Johnny reads the Bible, she tries to read along to teach her younger sister Isannah. Secondly, we both love little children.…
Have you ever found a character, maybe in a tv show, or book, that you can relate to the most (especially by a landslide)? Some people could say yes to the moon and back, while some people have never related that much to a character in their life. For me, I’m more of the former, and I found a character to relate to in To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee; Scout Finch. To explain, Scout and I take longer than others to understand things, which could cause frustration in others (mainly peers), and we’re both put under at least some pressure to be more “lady-like”. There’s other similarities too, but they’re either not as significant or I couldn’t find as much quotes to support them.…
For example, Giles Corey unintentionally condemns his own wife of witchcraft. Upon the arrival of Reverend Hale, Corey mentions that when his wife reads, he has problems reciting his prayers, which she later goes on trial for. Miller shows how even words said with the best intentions…
The quotes that show this rash thinking are spread throughout the novel as people are accused of witchcraft, in the end of the play people begin to realize they didn't necessarily think things through and notice how society has been disintegrated. On page 68 Hale is speaking to Giles after he says his wife's reading makes it difficult for him to pray. In response to this new information Hale says that “There…
There are several characters in Arthur Miller’s play “The Crucible”, that despite their accusation of witchcraft, choose the truth before lying and going against their morals, knowing it would claim their lives. The quote can relate to characters like Rebecca Nurse, Giles Corey, and to some extent, John Proctor. They believe that honesty should come before conformity and that you should never betray your ideals even if lying could grant you another day.…
The author also teaches us that Christopher is a very precise and logical person. This is shown by the way Christopher answers to others. He can’t understand sarcasm or jokes for this same reason. Christopher likes to know every single detail, so when you tell him a joke, he would want to break it down to every possible meaning it could have.…
