How Is Hamlet Indecisive
It is better to do something today rather than put it off till tomorrow as there are many reprecurserions that may arise as result of one’s delay such as the general inability to ever take action in a tense situation. Indecisiveness is a factor leading to procrastination and it is a very significant factor in one’s downfall as it shows that one cannot take action when needed, furthermore, it demonstrates a sense of inadequacy. In William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the protagonist, Hamlet, questions “To be or to not be”. This question shows that Hamlet is an indecisive and confused character. Although, Hamlet is portrayed as a daring and clever character initially, his critical thinking/conscience gets the better of him. Hamlet’s indecisive nature
is what leads to his inaction in completing the Ghost’s burdensome task. Hamlet’s indecisiveness can be portrayed by the strained relationship with the women in his life, his morality in exacting revenge on Claudius and his tentative thoughts about suicide.
